Yates County Districts: Penn Yan Central School District welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Penn Yan Central School District had the highest enrollment among Yates County school districts, welcoming 1,321 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 92.1% of Penn Yan Central School District's total enrollment.

Among the two districts in Yates County, Dundee Central School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 618 students.

Penn Yan Central School District roughly covers schools within Yates County and has a main office in Penn Yan.

In the previous school year, Penn Yan Central School District also had the highest number of students among Yates County districts.

As of 2024, New York has roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 15 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
