Assemblyman John Lemondes, representing LaFayette, participated in a hearing with the New York State Assembly’s Environmental Conservation Committee in Albany last week. The committee gathered insights from various stakeholders on initiatives related to environmental conservation and protection throughout the state.
Lemondes has focused on safeguarding Central New York's water quality during his time in the Assembly. Earlier this year, he secured $3.5 million for the Finger Lakes-Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance (FLLOWPA) within the state budget.
“Water quality is one of the most critical issues we face in Central New York,” said Lemondes. “Without proper conservation, untreated water sources can become dangerous for individuals and severely impact local businesses in our region. This is why these hearings are so important. It is imperative for elected officials to listen to experts, examine the data on how to best address these issues and formulate common-sense policies that work for all New Yorkers."
Lemondes expressed satisfaction with his participation in the hearing and emphasized his ongoing commitment to supporting improved water quality measures.
"Today’s hearing was both informative and productive," he stated, "and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to further protect water quality throughout our state.”
