In recognition of Women's History Month, Senator Pam Helming has acknowledged Amy West for her contributions as a leader, education advocate, and business owner. This acknowledgment is part of the National Women's History Month theme, "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations."

Amy West has been an active member of her community in Mendon through roles in education and business. She served on the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District Board of Education from 2011 to 2023, including terms as President and Vice President. In 2023, she joined the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education to continue influencing public education.

West also owns Honeoye Falls Marketplace and Mendon Meadow Marketplace, businesses she has developed since 1983. Her establishments are known for quality products and community involvement.

Honorees like West have their portraits displayed at the New York State Capitol during March. Senator Helming described Amy with the word "generous," noting her commitment to education and local business vitality.

Senator Helming stated, “Amy’s generosity shines through in her time, talents, and unwavering commitment to education and community growth. She empowers students to embrace the future with confidence and plays a vital role in keeping our main street businesses strong and vibrant."

Amy Thomas from the Monroe County School Board Association commended West's leadership: “In addition to her board service, Amy has been a dedicated officer for the Monroe County Boards Association for the past five years... offering wisdom, reassurance, and practical solutions.”

Expressing gratitude for this honor, Amy West remarked: “I am very humbled and honored to receive this recognition by Senator Helming... I do try to live my life in a way that demonstrates kindness, empathy, understanding and respect.”

The New York State Legislative Women’s Caucus organizes this annual event to recognize women who demonstrate leadership and inspiration.
