The F.F. Thompson Foundation’s Sweet Arrival Soirée raised about $200,000 to support a planned $2.5 million expansion and renovation of the Birthing Center at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
The event took place on August 28 at Lincoln Hill Farms, drawing 270 attendees. Genesee Construction served as the presenting sponsor, and entertainment was provided by Dave Turner and the Rolling Heads.
According to hospital officials, construction on the Birthing Center is scheduled to begin in 2026. The project will expand the number of labor and delivery rooms from 10 to 12 to address increased demand for services. In addition, existing triage, storage, and waiting areas will be upgraded with a focus on making the unit more comfortable for patients and families.
Foundation Director Heather Rickett expressed appreciation for those who contributed to the fundraiser. “Not only was the evening sweet, but it was successful, giving our fundraising campaign a tremendous boost,” she said. “We are fortunate to have an incredibly generous community, and it’s especially gratifying to know the proceeds from this event will directly benefit area families for years to come.”
