The Town of Locke announced on Apr. 3 that it will hold a scrap tire collection event in conjunction with a moving sale on Saturday, April 18, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Locke Highway Garage.

The event aims to help residents properly dispose of old tires, which organizers say helps keep the town clean and safe. Proper disposal is promoted as a way to reduce pollution, prevent mosquito breeding, and stop illegal dumping.

Residents are invited to bring passenger vehicle tires, light truck tires, motorcycle tires, ATV tires, trailer tires, agricultural or tractor tires, and commercial truck tires. The cost is $4.00 per passenger or light truck tire; oversized and specialty tire pricing is available by calling ahead. All tires must be off the rim before drop-off.

“Bring your old tires and help keep our town clean, safe, and beautiful. Proper tire disposal reduces pollution, prevents mosquito breeding, and stops illegal dumping,” organizers said in the announcement.

Event organizers highlight that participation helps protect the environment and reduces fire hazards while supporting community beautification efforts. For more information about acceptable items or pricing for oversized tires, residents can contact the Locke Town Office at (315) 497-9338.
