Auburn City School District had the highest enrollment among Cayuga County school districts, welcoming 4,168 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51% of them were boys, and 49% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 72.1% of Auburn City School District's total enrollment.

Among the seven districts in Cayuga County, Cato-Meridian Central School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 862 students, while Moravia Central School District welcomed 855 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Auburn City School District roughly covers schools within Cayuga County and has a main office in Auburn.

In the previous school year, Auburn City School District also had the highest number of students among Cayuga County districts.

As of 2024, New York has roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 15 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
