Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan and fellow members of the Assembly Minority Conference have presented the 2025 New York State Assembly Minority Conference Human Trafficking Task Force Report. This report is the product of a task force led by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay and co-chaired by Assemblyman Brian Maher and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh. The task force’s goal is to tackle issues related to supportive housing, enhance services for victims, reinforce criminal laws against traffickers, and boost training and awareness among professionals, students, and the public.

In 2024, the task force engaged with approximately 200 individuals, such as trafficking survivors, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, social workers, educators, and other anti-trafficking advocates. The insights gathered from these interactions informed the development of the report and subsequent legislative proposals.

“Human trafficking is a despicable crime that has no place in our state or anywhere else,” said Gallahan. “It is incredible to see the 2025 New York State Assembly Minority Conference Human Trafficking Task Force Report presented to the public to help educate New Yorkers on human trafficking, offer resources and support to victims and punish human traffickers who have been caught. Unveiling this report is only the beginning—the Assembly Minority Conference is leading the charge against human trafficking in our state and will continue to work tirelessly to protect vulnerable New York families, teens and children from harm.”
