Cayuga County Sheriff's Office March 2022 Report

30

* March 2022 Report *

On March 8th we launched our “Heroes Ride With Us” program at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES Campus.  Magnets honoring Cayuga County military Veterans that lost their lives defending our freedom were designed by the BOCES Graphic Design Class and are now being displayed on our marked patrol cars.  This initiative was made possible due to a collaborative effort by our agency along with our partners that included BOCES, Nick Valenti and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 704, and Dr. Linda Townsend.

We are continuing to work with the City of Auburn, Cayuga County Mental Health, and the Cayuga County Legislature to explore the possibility of expanding mental health crisis services in Cayuga County utilizing additional Mobile Crisis Team coverage to respond to mental health emergencies.

On March 30th Detective Sergeant Rob Franklin, Captain John Mack, and Sheriff Schenck visited Community Action Programs of Cayuga / Seneca’s Early Childhood Program and read children’s books to multiple classes.  We appreciate the invitation!

Detective Lieutenant Fred Cornelius signed out of service for the final time on March 25th as he began his retirement.  The members of our Sheriff’s Office wish him all the best.

Ashley Lawson joined our agency and has been assigned to our Road Patrol Division.  Welcome Ashley!

We continue to recruit for all  positions within the Sheriff’s Office.  If you are interested in joining our team, email us at Sheriff@Cayugacounty.us or call Kristen at 315-253-3991 to register for a future recruiting open house or to learn more.

At the time of this report we are holding  118 incarcerated individuals in the Cayuga County Jail.

A new crisis line has been implemented in Cayuga County.  If you or someone you know needs help with a crisis situation involving addiction or mental health, the Cayuga Crisis Line is available at 315-251-0800.  In an emergency, call 911.
